First and foremost, we're sorry you are experiencing an unexpected hardship. We are here to help walk you through the next steps of this process.
Please note that only the permanent disability or death of the primary borrower qualifies for loan forgiveness. If the affected individual is a cosigner, the loan is not forgiven, but the cosigner may be released from the loan obligation, making the borrower solely responsible for repayment.
To apply for death and disability forgiveness, please follow these steps:
- Visit our secure Document Upload Center by clicking this link: Upload - (Document Upload Center) | College Ave.
- Select "Death or disability verification
for loan forgiveness" in the dropdown menu. - Proceed by filling out all fields and selecting which document you will be uploading.
- Upload the document, then click submit.
Acceptable documentation for each scenario:
- In the event of death:
- Copy of Death Certification
- In the event of disability*:
- Social Security Statement (Benefit Verification Letter)
- Document from the Department of Veterans Affairs
*Must include the date in which the individual became permanently and totally disabled.
We will review the documentation and update the loan accordingly with 24-48 business hours. Should we have additional questions, we will contact you directly.
