Changes were made to the amount Parents can borrow per student via the Parent PLUS federal loan. Starting July 1, 2026, Parents will be capped at borrowing $20,000 per year with a lifetime borrowing limit of $65,000, per student, under the Parent PLUS loan. This is a change from being able to borrow the full cost of attendance for their student.
